Canggu, the “New Seminyak” Blooming in Bali

Canggu has only recently appeared on the tourist map, but it is quickly growing in popularity with tourists seeking an alternative to Legian and Seminyak that is still closer to the beach than choosing the cool mountains of Ubud.

Canggu, Bali’s hippest neighborhood, is particularly popular with digital nomads and expats, as evidenced by the several new international cafés that have opened there as well as the numerous sophisticated villas that are springing up among the beautiful, green rice fields.

Yes, it surely has some of those cool Instagrammable beach clubs, pool clubs, cafes, and shopping streets just like the Seminyak.

Navigating Around Canggu

Canggu is located about 20 minutes’ drive north of Seminyak. It’s simple to drive from Canggu to Seminyak, and you may do it on a scooter or in a cab.

Be advised that depending on the time of day, there is often quite an amount of traffic on the major route.

Berawa Beach, Batu Bolong, and Echo Beach are the three separate beach sections that make up the small coastal community of Canggu, which is bordered to the north by a larger and busier road known as Jalan Raya Canggu, which is located about 5 km inland.

Choosing the Type of Accommodation

Bali offers a wide variety of accommodations, all of which are of a high caliber. Canggu is home to an increasing number of hotels and guesthouses. Canggu, once a peaceful fishing village, has gained popularity as a tourist destination and is expected to overtake other popular spots in Bali.

If you want to stay at a cozy neighborhood that’s still close to Seminyak and Canggu both, you can choose Umalas. This region is the most laidback from all of Canggu, and you can reach the main Canggu and Batu Bolong via the Umalas short cut.

Pererenan is a bit removed from Canggu’s bustle but is still close to everything. It’s undoubtedly less touristic and an excellent place to stay if you’re visiting Canggu for a bit.
